What we monitor — and what we don’t yet

The People’s Notice is a Broward County pilot covering Broward County government, four Broward cities, and the Broward County School Board. We automatically check connected official government sources twice daily, then a person reviews important findings before anything is published. Some topics and government bodies have partial, manual, or planned coverage. This is our public coverage summary: what we currently monitor, the important limitations residents should know, and a link to check every official source yourself.

Topic coverage — stated separately

A topic label on an item means our software classified the government’s own text. It does not mean every agency touching that topic is monitored. Here is what actually feeds each topic today:

  • Insurance: Partial — dedicated insurance rate filings and regulatory actions do not come from county records. County records may contain insurance-related contracts, budgets, resilience measures, or legislative positions, but they are not a comprehensive insurance source. No FLOIR, Citizens, or FEMA/NFIP feed is connected yet.
  • Housing & development: Partial — county and four cities’ agenda items. Most municipal zoning boards, development applications, and permits are not yet connected.
  • Transportation: Partial — county and connected-city items only. No MPO, FDOT, or transit-agency feed yet; those decisions largely happen outside commission agendas.
  • Taxes & fees: Partial — commission budget items and the September hearing calendar. No Property Appraiser/TRIM feed yet.
  • Schools: Partial — the School Board’s meeting calendar and agenda documents are captured automatically. Agendas are single documents, so individual items are not listed separately; charter schools and the state education department are not monitored.
  • Policing & surveillance: Partial — county items, the seized-money trail, and four cities. Most surveillance purchases happen in the 27 unconnected municipalities.
  • Elections: Not yet monitored — election information is added by hand when verified.
  • Contracts & procurement: Partial — final commission and connected-city award approvals only. The bidding process before an award is not yet monitored.
  • Flooding & environment: Partial — county and connected-city items only. No South Florida Water Management District, FEMA flood-map, or state environmental-permit feed yet.
  • Utilities & water: Partial — rate hearings and contracts that reach commission agendas. No utility-department or Public Service Commission feed yet.
  • Health & public benefits: Not yet monitored — no hospital-district, Department of Health, or benefits-agency feed. Items reaching county agendas are incidental.
  • Campaign finance: Not yet monitored — no campaign-finance filings are connected.
  • Consumer protection: Not yet monitored — no Attorney General, FTC, or licensing-agency feed.
