The full design vocabulary — including the uncomfortable ones. When a source is late, a stage is challenged, or we simply can’t verify something, the gauge says so instead of pretending.

This stage is finished and verified against the public record.
Happening now
This is where the decision is right now.
Still ahead
This stage has not happened yet.
Delayed
Past its expected date, with no new date published.
Amended
Completed, but the text changed at this stage.
Signed
Formally signed — becoming law on its effective date.
In effect
Now in force — this is the rule today.
Challenged
Under legal or administrative challenge — outcome unsettled.
Source delayed
The agency has not produced the record we need to verify this stage.
Uncertain
We cannot verify where this stands — we say so rather than guess.
Withdrawn
Pulled back by its sponsor before completion.
Failed
Voted down or otherwise did not pass this stage.
Vetoed
Approved, then rejected by executive veto.
