The rules
This project takes no advertising, no sponsored content, and no money from candidates, campaigns, PACs, lobbyists or developers with business before the bodies we cover. The free public site is funded by our separate organizational monitoring service — which never influences coverage.
What you can see
Editorial decisions are made by editors — never by the organizations that fund the monitoring service. They see published stories when you do, not before, and have no say over what we cover.
Why it matters
Civic information only works if you can trust why it exists. The rules that keep it independent — no ads, no campaign or PAC money, and a strict wall between the monitoring service and the newsroom — are the terms this project runs on, and any change to them is something we would state openly.
